Nuclear testing in Nevada

This is what nuke testing did to a patch of desert in Nevada

Testing at Nevada Test Site (NTS) took place between 1951 and 1992. So 41 years. There were only 23 Plowshares shots at NTS out of 928 total tests, so that's only about 2% of all of the tests.

Interestingly, a large portion of the tests were in Operation Plowshare, investigating their use for construction/excavation. All the craters you see in this image are from below ground tests and are collapse features from subsidence into the largely vaporized detonation zone.

An African tigerfish caught on the Lower Zambezi River.

The evolution of Walter White

Breaking Bad is sadly gone from this Earth forever, but that won’t stop fans of the series from paying tributes to it. The latest comes from UK artist Olly Moss, who drew stylized miniature Walt Whites portraying the many versions of Walt’s character transformation. There’s regular Walt, pants less Walt, bald Walt, Heisenberg, meth suit Walt, and finally dying Walt. Each one captures the iconic character in a charming portrayal of his many evolutions.

Volcano Blue Fire

Indonesian Volcano Spews a Beautiful Blue Fire

It isn't lava, well at least the blue part isn't. It is molten sulfur igniting as it hits the atmosphere, creating a blue flame that is more visible than the bright yellow molten sulfur.

Let's add some more amazing facts about the space shuttle program, shall we?
1) The three main SSME engines on the shuttle put out as much power as 23 Hoover Dams.
2) The fuel pumps which are the size of V8 engines, produce as much power as 40 diesel locomotives - each.
3) These fuel pumps, if the inlet were placed in a family sizes swimming pool, would empty the pool in under 6 seconds.
4) If the outlet of the pump was pointed upwards, it would drive a column of water 50 kilometres into the air.

Not only their sports teams performance subpar. Their logical way of improving is getting new stadiums at the expense of tax payers that hate their loser teams. New Vikings Stadium this year - $1 billion. New Twins stadium in 2010 $600 million and that a lots of taxpayer money.

Common Word and Phrases in Facebook Status Updates by Gender

Interesting infographic from Facebook social networking website.

Funny things is, if you look at it, one would assume most English-speaking Americans that use Facebook are between the ages of 12 and 17. On a more serious note, stripping away the video games, sports and shopping... It does seem as if the boys are talking politics and the economy and the girls aren't at all.
